Seven started out on this bold adventure around the trails of Wells Mills Park and unfortunately due to some turned arrows in the Citta Boy Scout Camp (Brookville) took a slight detour. But ALL ran over 30-miles under hot, humid conditions! Conga-Rats to all!!! Xavier Clavijo, Alan Johnson, Mickey Davie, Dean Grusky,Rebecca Couleh, Angelica Lerro Julia Lipeles and Amy Sepinwall

        The 50k

One person's Facebook writeup of the 2025 50k

Got home late yesterday and I was too tired to post, but we did The Rat Race 50K almost 300 miles away, south in the Pine Barrens near the Jersey Shore in Waretown.  The 4.5 hour drive each way was worth it because this is terrain we have never ran in before.  The short story is that I did run all 31.75 miles with a big plastic rat strapped to my trail vest & he did not fall off once (you HAVE to, when it’s called The Rat Race, right?! 📷), we finished in 7:57:34, I came in 3rd female & Gary came in 5th male, we placed 7th & 8th overall, we won medals (with a spinning tiny rat inside), we won cool little marble awards for top 10 overall, we got to run in a completely different environment while enjoying each other’s company, and we had an overall great day. — including me putting my phone on speaker & us singing badly out loud for the last 5 miles of the race (ending with No Sleep Tll Brooklyn ) 📷📷.  We even saw 2 run friends there!  Long story:  I thought given the location, it would be pancake flat, but it was surprisingly lots of rolling small hills — about 2700 feet of elevation.  The format was five 10K loops through pine scrub that traversed a combination of a lille bit of sandy ATV roads & pine needle covered rocky sandy roads, and the rest was all single-track trails — and it all somehow did a huge loop around a lake.  The single-track trails were mostly covered in a bed of a bazillion pine needles, but there were also rocks, roots, mud, sections of narrow wooden plank bridges, wooden stairs, and even a wood fence to hop over to make sure you at least tripped over that if you hadn’t tripped on anything else.  The weather went from 36 degrees to 64° all in one race, so we went from thick long sleeves & gloves, to tank tops by the end!  There was a table of food set aside just for us 50K runners, which was nice, the race directors also saved food on the side for us, and we also took some on a few of our loops during our trips through the start/finish area, to save for after the race.  Needless to say, we had a ridiculous amount of food to eat on the way home, including sub sandwiches, cookies, lots of Gatorade, and water, and even a piece of three layer cake!   Another challenging but fun day running with my 📷 Gary Thompson!  The race was definitely tougher than we thought it would be, and we were slower than we thought we would be, but the best part is that we got to enjoy another great race experience together 😍.
